Feel the Beat

Pop rocking, head knocking, electro progressive beats are what Karbokane has magnified in his style of spinning records. Born in Utica, NY on April 20th, he received his real name, Justin, from the lead singer of Moody Blues and began going to their concerts as soon as he could walk. This digital object identifier knew that Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac would set the creativity and passion within the composer himself. Along with his early development of musical aptitude, he was intrigued by stereo equipment that was in his house hold, such as reel to reel, 8 track players and turntables. This would soon lead to future installments of pro-audio, home audio, and fabricating car stereo competition systems in his early teens.

In the heightened era of house and dance tune masterpieces of 1996 this audiophile unlocked his ears to another dimension. The stimulating sounds of Lords of Acid, Crystal Method, Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Chemical Brothers and so forth, methodically began to train this DJs crazed skill.

To identify and appreciate this period in music he enjoyed attending and working at some of the top music festivals and events in the North East such as, Zen Fest, Whistle, WEMF (World Electronic Music Festival), Woodstock and more.  Going to fanatical events to “Get Down” with Frankie Bones, Joey Beltram, X-Dream, Micro, Skylab, Christopher Lawrence, Carl Cox, and Moby, along with the Count Down, Boo Parties, and frequenting world-renowned super clubs such as Twilo, where Sasha & Digweed were monthly residents, is what put him in heaven and in love.

Karbokane reached a boiling point and before detonation he set out to purchase his first equipment of CDJ100’s, a DJM300, and an EFX500, and was then ready to destroy the dance floor for the likeminded house music enthusiasts. At this particular moment people smiled in ridicule of CD turntables. Even so, the only person worth impressing was himself, knowing that someday he would be controlling crowds of music admirers with his fingertips.  Soon thereafter, he decided to acquire the “Steel Wheels” in combination with CDJs, tightening up his knowledge in the art of mixing in front of local social gatherings, close friends, and warehouse raves.

Karbokane set out on a personal tour through all the major cities in the U.S. to decisively relocate to one of the only after hour capitals in the states, Miami, FL. As a frequenter of Winter Music Conference, this hot spot always left him wanting more. His NY underground playground of dark beats along with Miami’s fresh sounds complimented each other throughout his mixing, catching the ears of many listeners. Karbokane proceeded to tear up the Miami Nights by landing gigs at the modern and most frequented clubs/lounges in South Beach, such as Karu & Y Ultra Lounge, Famous Flamingo Pool Parties, INK, Tantra, Dream, Livingroom, Gansevoort, Catalina & Dorsett Rooftop Special Events, The Raleigh, Sagamore, National, and even exclusive parties at late Gianni Versace’s home, Casa Casuarina. Donald Glaude has personally come to view this rising artist of mixology, while sharing the decks alongside Global DJs such as, Sharam of Deep Dish, Crystal Method, Infected Mushroom, Frankie Knuckles, Chris Lake, Starkillers, Mark Knight, Serge Devant, Gabriel & Dresden, Angel Alanis, Frankie Bones, Robbie Rivera, Kurd Maverick, The D.O.N.S., Ivano Bellini, and many more, making Karbokanes’ reverberation that much more engaging to a larger fanatical base.

Not only does Karbokane’s sound imbed in the minds of electronic music lovers but he has recently been asked to collaborate music with top hip hop producer, Teflon, whose music has appeared on Grammy-nominated albums, worldwide advertising campaigns, movie soundtracks, countless DJ play lists and your iPod. Teflon’s resume is endless and Karbokane is next in the list of talent that will broaden the sounds of them collectively. With their joint work on reggae star Shaggy’s vocals, the creation of a new sound is becoming a reality.

Karbokane’s productions will not end short. Releasing remixes of tracks such as “Touch Me” on Vinyl under HMSP Music’s label for Niaz Arca and Andy Notalez, both of which are master producers in the distant city of Stockholm, Sweden. Locally, working with The Giver in New York, Touvan from San Diego and Soren LaRue of Kentucky, he constantly keeps his team diverse. Karbokane has brought out his original sounds identified in his mixing to his productions that is totally unique and has now been signed to the HMSP Music, Intermission Ltd., and Funkstarz record labels.

Karbokane’s music has aired on multiple radio shows including the Ultra Music Festival show on XM, RiseFM, Pure.FM, Hardmusic.Es, Mixologyradio.com, LunchboxRadio.com, for Wish Industry and even iCLub now with 500,000 listeners worldwide and recently ranking in the top 10 of best radio shows above David Guetta’s top radio show on iTunes, airing other DJs such as Serge Devant, Ashley Wallbridge, Thomas Gold, John Dahlback and Chris Lake. With the start of his new show on Toronto based Obsessed Radio, The KarboKast will bring Karbokane and his weekly special guests so stay tuned.

It seems that no obstacle will hinder the path of greatness and the teams that formed to create these beats has a strong willed effort to bring to life an energy of sound that has been heard globally with recognition spreading at an exponential rate. Having now teamed up with Wish Industry from San Diego, Karbokane is on board with the North American Tour of the Brazilian group, Mind.

Alone or with the crew backing him, Karbokane’s resume is endless and he has now been recently seen romping the dance arenas from Whet Travels Groove Cruise, Hard Rocks killer club Body English, San Diego’s best at Voyeur, the Chemistry LA Float at LovEvolution, the fields in Desiderata Festival, to The BPM Festival in Mexico, Toronto’s Factory Sundays, and of course numerous events at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Be sure to mark your calendars when Karbokane is in town or suffer the regret that your friends will feed you when you don’t hear what you missed.
